Akama is a character in The 25th Ward: The Silver Case, and also prominently featured in Red, Blue, and Green. He is a member of the 25th Ward Heinous Crimes Unit, but is in reality a time-traveling police officer.

Appearance and Personality

Akama appears to be an overweight young man with glasses. His typical appearance, however, is a disguise, and he dons futuristic clothing when he acts as a time-traveling cop. As the time-traveler Red Ribbon, he wears a large helmet and rectangular sunglasses.

Not much is shown of Akama's personality since he appears for a short period of time in The 25th Ward. Akama is normally a serious person when the time calls for it, but has been shown to go on eccentric comedic rants as well. He is close with his partner Aoyama, who both think of the other HCU members as their friends. He is shown to dislike the noise and bustle of the city.

History

Backstory

Very little is known about Akama's origin. He is said to be a time-cop from another place in space-time, sent to the 25th Ward with Aoyama to carry out a mission. At one point the two joined the 25th Ward Heinous Crimes Unit.

The 25th Ward

Akama first appears in #02 good looking guy, working as part of the investigation into the death of Yasushi Kamijo. He and Aoyama were tasked with digging up information from Kamijo's workplace, and were introduced to the new member, Uehara.

Akama would not appear again until the beginning of #05 electride, being briefed by Hatoba on the death of Yuki Ishimura, who may have a connection to the divers and Kurumizawa. He and Aoyama were given orders to look into the identity of the victim.

Red, Blue, and Green

Akama is one of the main characters of Red, Blue, and Green. He appears in Red Out, meeting with Hatoba at the Union Hotel during the events of #05 electride. They're brought coffee, and debate how terrible the coffee is and how to make it taste like the Italian dessert affogato. They move on to discuss the state of their teammate Mokutaro Shiroyabu, who underwent a change after coming into contact with Kosuke Kurumizawa. Hatoba recalls his conversation with him at the rally of Mayor Mikoshiba, where he could sense his bloodlust. Hatoba tells Akama that Shiro is waiting in Room 303 of the hotel. Akama meets with Aoyama, who thinks the boss is hiding something from them. They decide that Jabroni has to be dealt with, and Akama agrees to go after him while Aoyama goes after Hatoba. Akama makes his way to the hotel room, but finds the door already unlocked. Inside, he meets Garcian Smith.

black out

Akama and Aoyama appeared once again in #07 black out, immediately following the shootout between Hatoba and Michiru Kosaka. They said that they were listening in, and asked what was going on. Hatoba told them to dispose of the body, but the two instead held Hatoba at gunpoint. They went on to make jokes about the film Taken, a movie from the future. They claimed to be executioner-cops sent there by their boss. After Shinko Kuroyanagi arrived to defend Hatoba, the three entered a stand-off. They agreed to allow Uehara to choose the outcome of the fight.

• No. 1, "Kill Hatoba": Kuroyanagi kills Akama and Aoyama.
• No. 2, "Kill Akama": Akama is immediately killed by Uehara.
• No. 3, "Kill Aoyama": Akama is shot by Kuro, but is wearing a bulletproof vest. Kuro disappears, and Akama faces Shiroyabu, who easily kills him, leaving his decaying body on the floor.
• No. 4, "Kill Akama and Aoyama": Akama and Aoyama and killed by Uehara.
• No. 7, "Hold your breath": Akama and Aoyama are killed by Kuro.
• No. 8, "Kill yourself with a necktie": Akama, Aoyama, and Kuro kill Uehara after his failed suicide.
• No. 11, "Kill everyone (excluding yourself)": Killed by Uehara.
• No. 12, "Kill everyone (including yourself)": Killed by Uehara, then guided by Shiroyabu to the observation room.
• No. 13, "Cut off Hatoba's arm and kill Akama": Killed by Uehara.
• No. 14, "Cut off Hatoba's head and crush Kuroyanagi's heart": Akama and Aoyama are killed by Uehara after a gunfight.
• No. 15, "Shoot out Hatoba's kneecaps and stomp his immobile ass": Akama and Aoyama are killed by Kuro.
• No. 16, "Bite off all of Hatoba's fingers and kill Aoyama": Akama takes down Kuroyanagi and stabs Uehara, who is reborn as a brazil nut.
• No. 17, "Grab Hatoba by the throat and knee him into a KO": Killed by Uehara.
• No. 18, "Explode": Blown away by Uehara's explosion.
• No. 25, "Face off against Aoyama": Akama faces off with Hatoba, and kills him. He shoots at Uehara, but he dodges his bullets. Uehara leaves after Aoyama's ghost asks him not to kill him.
• No. 26, "Face off against Akama": Aoyama's ghost possesses Uehara and forces him to be killed by Akama. After Akama kills himself, the two wear futuristic clothes and board a floating silver ship, and leave to the next dimension.
• No. 33, "Shiroyabu executes Blue and Red": Akama and Aoyama are killed by Shiro, and avenged by Kuro.
• No. 35, "Kill Aoyama and Akama simultaneously": Akama and Aoyama tell Uehara they are time police, and ask him to help "Mr. TD".
• No. 36, "Speak with Aoyama and Akama": Akama and Aoyama bring Uehara to 1975 to investigate the death of Susie Sumner. They are called to another crime scene with the same victim. They argue over whether they should return to the 25th Ward, and ask Uehara if he wants to go.
• No. 41, "Kosaka lives": Akama and the others are frozen in a stand-off after Kosaka kills Hatoba. Hours go by before Uehara moves and is killed.
• No. 61, "Target Kuroyanagi's ears": Akama, Aoyama, and Hatoba are killed by Shiroyabu.
• No. 83, "Kurumizawa appears in an illustration": Everyone is turned 2D by Kurumizawa. The group engage in a pay-to-win battle which destroys the 25th Ward.
• No. 85, "Kurumizawa appears in a polygonal body": Everyone is killed by Kurumizawa's overpowering presence.
• No. 89, "Patricia appears": A woman named Patricia appears and convinces everyone to stop fighting.

Travis Strikes Again

Following the destruction of the 25th Ward, Akama and Aoyama were sent to the United States until their next destination was decided. Akama appears alongside Aoyama in #1: Absolute Zero, using the name Red Ribbon. They stop Travis Touchdown on the road and explain that their mission is to inform Travis of the "connecting points" to the Death Balls. They tell him to head to Nightmare Burger where he'll meet Uehara. When Travis asks why the 25th Ward disappeared, they explain that it was destroyed in a "man-made natural disaster" called the Rage Earth Plan, which Aoyama calls a "genocide". They joke about hitching a ride with Travis next time, and teleport away.
