Yasushi Engawa is a character in The 25th Ward: The Silver Case. He is a member of the Kamui Fan Club (Pending).

Appearance and Personality

Engawa is a slovenly, overweight man with a thin mustache. He and the other members of the Kamui Fan Club (Pending) wear outfits resembling Nazi uniforms, with red arm-bands with the letter "K" on them. He views himself as a devoted acolyte for the return of Kamui Uehara, but in reality he is a coward who folds when presented with real danger.

History

Backstory

Engawa is a member of the Kamui Fan Club (Pending), a group devoted to the return of Kamui Uehara in Ward 25. He was contacted by Mitsuki Haijima, under the name "Translator". Haijima acted as Kamui's "spokesperson" and fed Engawa information. The club formed as a chat group on Kamui Net 25, and began worshiping Kamui as a god. They tried to draw as much attention to themselves as they could, believing that they'd be closer to Kamui upon his return.

The 25th Ward

The fan club convinced Tomiko Ozuya to attack Judah Law for calling himself a god in his music, as they viewed this as blasphemous against Kamui. Ozuya agreed, which also acted as an experiment for the effects of the Bloody High drug. Engawa invited Shinkai Tsuki and Yotaro Osato to their church underneath the manga cafe, planning to sacrifice them to bring back Kamui. After hearing this, Osato pretended to be scared, causing Engawa to gloat over him. He panicked after seeing that Tsuki and Osato were actually unfazed by them, and began adjusting his fellow members. When everyone else was dead, Engawa begged for his life, insisting that it was all just a joke. Engawa was taken away by Maejima to have his brain "cleaned". Near the end of the interrogation, Engawa kept repeating the words "ocean" and "planetarium", referring to his meeting place with Haijima. After his interrogation, Engawa was released into the street, having lost all of his linguistic abilities.
