Badman Strikes Back is a visual novel game mode that's part of the Black Dandelion DLC of Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. It is optional to game progression, but details the history of Shigeki Birkin, AKA Badman. It was written by Masahi Ooka, and thus is to Travis Strikes Back as Placebo is to Transmitter in The Silver Case.

Style

Badman Strikes Back uses the same engine as Travis Strikes Back, and thus is entirely text-based with no gameplay interaction other than pressing the button to proceed the text. It is rendered in black and green graphics based on old monochrome monitors. The layout of the screen consists of character portraits in the left and right windows, the location name in the top window, art of the current environment in the bottom window and text in a large middle window. Each chapter furthers the story of Badman's past, as he recounts it to an unseen individual (eventually revealed to be Greco) in a basement somewhere. This framing story seemingly takes place between Badman's opening cutscene and his arrival at Travis' trailerhouse.
