Haruhiko Inomata is a character in The Silver Case. He is a member of the Special Forces Unit Republic, and serves alongside the main character, Akira.
Appearance and Personality
Inomata was a hot-headed and rash member of the special forces. He often disobeys or questions orders, and places himself in danger. He dislikes Akira, considering him "frigid" due to his suppressed emotions. After the mission at Cauliflower, he began to doubt his abilities. He is close to Kenichi Sakamoto, and put himself in danger to avenge him.
History
Inomata was recruited by Daigo Natsume into his special forces team Republic, alongside Kenichi Sakamoto and Akira. He received training in Northern Japan with the other members.
On January 30th, 1999, Republic was tasked with its first mission: eliminating Ryo Kazan who had retreated to the Cauliflower building. Inomata ran ahead of the rest of the group, and was shot in the arm by Kazan. After the others caught up with him, he asked Akira to kill Kazan. Sakamoto instructed him to fall back and escort Rumi Toba out of the building. For an unknown reason the others lost communication with Inomata, and Rumi escaped to the roof where she was killed by Akira.
On March 27th, Republic began to track Ayame Shimohira, believing her to be the escaped Kamui Uehara. The group arrived in the woods in E Ward for "Operation Secure Kamui". Inomata questioned the orders to secure Kamui alive, which he believed put them at a disadvantage. Sakamoto tried to calm him down by reassuring him that Kamui was just one man, and that it is necessary to have more criminal power than the enemy. He became erratic after communication was lost with Sakamoto, and after discovering his corpse, chose to rush ahead to avenge him. Before leaving he asked Daigo to collect his body. He was then murdered by Ayame with a customized harpoon gun. His corpse was found soon after by Akira with its eyes gouged out.
