#2: Beanball is the second chapter of Badman Strikes Back.

Summary

Shigeki Birkin (Badman) continues his story.

His boss at the time, Mario Castiglione, who had ran their gang in the Pacific Northwest for over 40 years, was angry that they had lost the drugs, and Birkin feared his punishment. Mario had apparently sent out a young member of the gang named Mosca to mess up Birkin.

Soon at some batting cages, Birkin was tied up to a chair by a taunting Mosca. Birkin was wearing bandages all over the side of his head due to his injury. Mosca asked Birkin about his past, bringing up his time as a major league baseball player. Mosca then activated a pitching machine that launched a ball right at Birkin's face, but he dodged it, as well as a second ball. Mosca got upset and wrapped Birkin's bandages around his face so they covered his eyes. Unable to dodge the balls from sound alone due to his injured ear, Birkin took the next ball right in the face. Before he could recover from it, he was his by another, and soon after another, which knocked him out.

He experienced something like being swallowed by darkness, and had an out-of-body/dissociative experience where he saw his own body on the floor being looked at by members of the gang. He was swallowed by darkness again, but saw a light in the distance. When he reached towards it, he saw the black dog, laughing. He screamed, and then found himself waking up in a hospital bed.
