Death Metal is a character in No More Heroes. He is the tenth-ranked assassin in the United Assassins Association. He is the first boss battle in the game.

Personality and Appearance

Death Metal is a middle-aged man with spiked red hair, with multiple piercings on his face and a body covered in tattoos. As an assassin, he has killed many people and lives a luxurious lifestyle, but doesn't care for any of it and is free of desire as long as he has beautiful scenery. He values the ultimate sacrifice it takes to live as an assassin, and encourages Travis to master their ways.

History

Backstory

Death Metal, real name Count Townsend, was an assassin ranked tenth in the United Assassins Association. He accumulated a vast amount of wealth from killing, and lived in the opulent Townsend Manor. He had a son named Death Metal Jr..

No More Heroes

Death Metal sat drinking wine behind his manor when Travis Touchdown arrived for their ranked match. Travis was envious of Death Metal's extravagant surroundings, calling it "Paradise". Death Metal told him that it wasn't Paradise, but just a place to die. He commented on Travis's naivete, and warned him about the cost of taking on the life of an assassin. At the end of their fight, Death Metal's hands were sliced off, planting his weapon in the ceiling. He congratulated Travis, and bestowed him with the name "Holy Sword". He told Travis to master the ways of the assassin, before Travis decapitated him with his beam katana. After his death, Death Metal's body was disposed of by Talbot and Weller, as Sylvia Christel took photos of his corpse.
