Romeo Stargazer
Romeo Stargazer is the protagonist of Romeo is a Dead Man. He is a man saved from the brink of death by a time paradox, and works as an FBI Space-Time special agent.
Appearance and Personality
Romeo is a young man with black hair and green eyes. In life, he appeared dressed in a sheriff deputy's uniform. As "Dead Man", Romeo wears white combat gear marked with the FBI logo. Over that he wears a yellow leather bomber jacket, with his grandfather's image emblazoned on the back, which he can use to communicate with him. Romeo also has a robotic arm, replacing the one he lost before his transformation. Dead Man's most notable feature is his mask, which is part of the Dead Gear Life Support System that saved him from death. The mask covers his entire face, and surrounds it with halo-like rings. The mask leaves one eye exposed, which appears to be fleshy and strained, although in other appearances his eye seems normal. Dead Man also has a powered up form, where his entire body appears to be robotic, and the rings around his head are made of pure green energy.

Background
Romeo Stargazer was a sheriff's deputy living in Deadford. One day he found a woman named Juliet Dendrobium lying in the road, having lost her memories. The two would meet at a diner every night and eventually fell in love. Romeo agreed to live town with Juliet, but on the day they were set to elope, Romeo was attacked by a white monster at his home. Seconds before death, he is saved by having the Dead Gear Life Support System inserted into his eye, a device created by his scientist grandfather Benjamin Stargazer. This keeps Romeo on the edge of life and death by causing a time paradox, shattering the space-time continuum. Romeo becomes an FBI Space-Time special agent by the name of "Dead Man", and begins hunting space-time's most wanted fugitives. His quest intertwines with the mysterious disappearance of his girlfriend Juliet Dendrobium.

- Romeo's "Dead Man" design was first revealed in the Grasshopper Manufacture 25th Anniversary art by Peach MoMoKo.
- Romeo is also a bass guitarist in a shoegaze band.
- Romeo is also quite fond of the occult, and often rambles on about it to the sheriff in Episode 1 and his family members in the announcement trailer.
