Unlike most assassins, Matt is immortal, allowing him to come back to life even after being killed via headshot, decapitation or being set on fire. Matt also has various other abilities such as manipulating his victim's shadows, teleporting at will and switching between an adult and child form.

===Backstory===
Thirty years before the events of the game, Matt Helms was abandoned by his parents and left to die in a cabin in the woods. With his dying breath, Matt would make a pact with the devil, reviving him and granting him immortality. Matt would go on to murder both of his parents and haunt the woods around the cabin he was abandoned in. At some point, he would become the twenty-fourth-ranked assassin in the [[United Assassins Association]].

===''No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle''===
When [[Travis Touchdown]] entered his cabin, Matt would try attacking him with Travis' own shadow before appearing in front of Travis in his horrifying true form, scaring Travis but motivating him into a fight. Travis would stab into Matt's forehead and charge up his [[beam katana]], blowing up his head. Despite being killed, Travis would see Matt again once he turned around, this time in his child form, Matt got Travis to lower his guard by whispering and went to kill him with a small fire axe, however, [[Sylvia Christel]] stopped him by shooting Matt in the head, however, he shook off the injury and walked away. [[Talbot]] and [[Weller]] would show up and burn the cabin down. As the cabin burned down, Matt could be seen one last time staring out of one of the cabin's windows.
